Training for juveniles takes place in Emo Court on Saturday mornings at 11.00am. For further information, contact Ciarán Fitzpatrick at (057) 8622008.

Congratulations to the club’s senior men who finished 2nd at the recent Laois senior Cross Country Championships. Scorers on the day were Cormac Fitzpatrick in 4th, Ciarán Fitzpatrick in 5th, Roibeaird Miller 11th, Ciarán Keenan 15th, Stephen Bland 18th and Dave Conroy in 19th. Frances Harney ran a fine to race to take 4th in the senior women’s race while Colin Maher impressed when finishing 6th in the junior men’s race. The club’s intermediate team of Roibeaird Miller, Ciarán Keenan, Stephen Bland, Dave Conroy and Nick Devery took team gold, edging out Portlaoise by two points.

A group of four athletes from the club travelled to the Netherlands for the Sylvestercross race. Ailbhe Joyce finished 30th just five seconds in front of Karen Phelan in 31st while Luke Conroy and Colin Maher were 36th and 40th in their respective races.

Daniel Lalor was a member of the Laois under 19 team which won bronze medals at the Leinster Cross Country Championships in Heywood.

The club’s under 16 and 17 teams both took bronze medals at the county cross country championships. The under 16 team comprised of Luke Conroy, Chris Kearns, James Daly and David Lewis while Colin Maher, Conor Mason, Tomás Brickley and Michael Hyland were the four scorers on the under 17 team. Martin Phelan was the star, however, winning the under 11 boys race in some style.

Ciarán Fitzpatrick represented Ireland in the World Mountain Running Championships in Switzerland on September 15th, where he finished 131st.

Ciarán Keenan was a member of the North Laois team which finished 2nd at the Leinster Masters’ Road Championships at the beginning of September.
