Current Status of the Running Track in Portlaoise.
As part of the development planned for the Moneyballytyrrell area, the existing running track behind the swimming pool will be replaced by 5-a-side soccer pitches.
This work is expected to commence in autumn 2005, so it’s days are numbered.
Laois Co. Council have committed to replacing this track.
The Council is currently in discussions with the Health Service Executive, with a view to taking a long term lease on the St. Fintan’s Hospital Field.
This area is Zoned for Amenity, and it is proposed to lay the replacement track here.
Big Wheels usually Turn Slowly, and everyone with an interest in providing the replacement track in a timely fashion is encouraged to lobby the local representatives, to ensure a quick completion of this project.
Anne Keenan Buckley is working very hard on this, and we all need to rally together in support.
